It’s been a couple of days after Aion went through with its Sever Merge, and the converged communities are busy sorting through name change disputes.
With the 32 original servers merging to 13 consolidated ones, NCSoft added server abbreviations at the end of all character names to avoid name duplication. But obviously, many players wouldn’t want to get stuck with toon names like PatriciaAZ (Patricia on Azphel server).
To remedy the situation, players have been given a Name Change Ticket in their inventories. NCSoft has even opened up their customer support for name change appeals that request for their old names to be given back after it was snatched up by another character.
The same solution has been presented to Legion names, with the Legion Brigade General receiving a free Legion name change coupon in his or her inventory.
All of these information plus other helpful hints are listed on the Server Merge FAQ page.

I pre-purchased Aion after the pre-sales Beta and also pre-payed for a years subscriptions, the point of pre-purchased was to allow users a ‘head-start’ over regular account types, so that they can reserve character names, unfortunately as with ALL NcSoft games they always fail to deliver on there promises, and once again players where left in this MMORPG in divided regions!.
Now that NcSoft have merged there servers, I have come back to my account to find that ALL of my pre-purchase character names have been altered making them totally un-unique and meaning that the extortionate amount of funds I payed to reserve those names and play in an MMORPG environment, was all fraud, yes fraud because thats what it is.
In light of this I have just requested that I get a FULL refund of my Aion account, including the many months I didn’t play due to features not being present that where in the Beta and used to get NCSoft sales in the first place.
As a long term customer of NcSot I can assure anyone reading this that time and time again, they disappoint and never deliver, they just use sales hype to get your money and create such sociopathic games, that before long your being called nub if you haven’t spent your hard earned cash on some in game items that should be available to earn.
Gameplay wise for me, Age Of Conan beat Aion hands down because it provided a large open explorable environment that allows the player to engage in combat if and when they wanted, while exploring a graphically beautiful world.
Sorry to hear that Dan, I hope you get to resolve it quickly with NCSoft.
Should you get the refund, you can consider subscribing to upcoming releases like Final Fantasy XIV, World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, or Star Wars: The Old Republic.
